Ollie's had a wonderful 4th birthday on the 29th June 2014 and enjoyed all his new grooming kit being used on him and also loved his new head collar and treats!
Thanks to all that send him a birthday treat!!! Ollie, was born June 2010 early hours in the morning to, Rosie. He has such a lively character and full of beans. He loves your full attention! The first thing I seen when entering the field was a little white foal running up and down non stop. Rosie, was running behind him trying to keep him beside her and not let, Paris and Pip, near him. They were trying to have a good look, but, Rosie, wouldn't allow them near him!. He looked so beautiful and what a joy to see. I think I phoned everyone and sent photos for everyone to see him from my phone. He wouldn't come to me at all at first. I managed to get hold off, Rosie and then he came to check me out. He was running around me and bucking all over the place. It was so funny to watch him. He had a job standing still at first. Most of the time he was wobbling and fell over a lot. Then he would shoot off so fast and Rosie, kept right beside him. Then he laid down and went to sleep. I then checked all over his body to make such he was fine. His legs were so long and he was a lovely brown and white markings, which have now turned black and white. Myself and Lee, once again, went to buy more electric post and fencing to make another paddock to keep him inside so he would be safe from all the drops in the field and to keep, Paris and Pip, from bothering him. Also it would give, Rosie, a well earned rest from chasing them off! The vet came out the next day to gave him an antibiotic injection and a tetanus antitoxin injection and then the vet examined him all over. He was in great shape! The vet was worried with how small he was and wanted to keep an eye on him!. She thought he had been born too early by a couple of months due to his size, but apart from the size, he was in great shape. We had to keep away from his back legs, he loved to buck and if you were in the way............. You would get kicked!!! We bought an headcollar for him when he was 3 days old and he let us put it on with no trouble at all. Rosie, was amazing, she would just walk away to eat grass and leave him with us, she trusted us completely! He loved our company. We never wanted to leave him and was going up 3 times a days now. We were going up twice a day for, Milly and we were excited! We took the head collar off each time we left and put it back on each time we arrived. (I never leave a headcollar on any horse when left alone in the field. It can be dangerous for the head. Left on a foal when alone is dangerous! They usually get their foot catch inside the head collar or on a tree branch) Lee, would lift his hooves each time and gave them a little tap and rub so he would be used to having his hooves handled. He would just stand and let you do that with ease. Ollie, would try and eat, Rosie's, bucket feed, he made us smile, he had no idea how to eat food yet but he had a good go. He followed, Lee, everywhere! He had the paddock and stable next to, Milly and he would run up and down beside, Milly, to get her attention. Milly, wasn't interested at all and ignored him most of the time. The times she did go to see him he would stand with his mouth opening and closing very fast all the time. He was telling her he was a baby! He would bury himself in the shavings and go to sleep and when he emerged, he was covered all over with shaving. Everyone loves, Ollie, he is a favourite of everyone that passes by and he loves the attention and he gets lots of it! Ollie, is full of good health and is stunning. He will not grow to be a big horse. He loves to be groomed and try's to groom you at the same time. He picks up all his hooves and stands like a star when you clean them out. One of his back hooves he does not like you to pick up, but will allow you to and it is the same hoof that, Rosie, dislikes being picked up! We are working on that every day and he is getting better. He loves water, just like, Pip. He takes the hose pipe when filling the water buckets and drinks from the running water. He loves to play with the water and splashes his face in the water buckets when they are full! He stands so well for the farrier and the first time he had a trim, I kept his first hoof trim that was trimmed off! It is so tiny! Now when I look at it and see how small it is and look at him now, wow what a difference! He is growing fast.We really don't want to lose, Ollie and will do everything in our power to keep him and the rest of the horses together. He is up to date with his injections and been wormed regularly. Also his hooves are trimmed by the farrier every six weeks. Feel free to leave your comments on, Ollie. It is always nice to read what others think of him. |
